Industry Update is proud to announce that Kärcher UK Ltd. has been chosen as our Cleaning Manufacturer Company of the Month.
Established in 1935 by Alfred Kärcher in Winnenden, Germany, Kärcher has become synonymous with innovation, sustainability and efficiency in the cleaning manufacturing industry. After developing Europe’s first hot water high-pressure cleaner in 1950, the group became a pioneer in cleaning technology and has expanded across the world.
Today, Kärcher consists of 17,000 employees, 170 companies and over 50,000 service centres in more than 85 countries. Focusing on a wide target market within the professional environment, Kärcher serves sectors as broad as agriculture, automotive, construction, healthcare, hospitality, industry, public services, retail, and transport & logistics.
Beyond their product range, Kärcher UK also offers a variety of professional services. These include Kärcher Hire, which provides flexible rental options for the latest cleaning equipment, and Kärcher Lease, a comprehensive and financing solutions service. We also offer Kärcher Used, giving customers access to pre-owned, but high-quality reconditioned machines accompanied by full-service support.
Kärcher is primarily a manufacturing company producing professional and retail cleaning solutions, offering cutting-edge cleaning technologies alongside outstanding customer service. The business is split into two, Home & Garden and Professional, meaning Kärcher can provide inventive and efficient solutions for a diverse array of customers. Product categories include pressure washers, vacuum cleaners, carpet & upholstery cleaners, steam cleaners, industrial vacuums, window vacs, cleaning robots, sweepers, floor scrubbers & scrubber dryers, municipal equipment and manual cleaning. As well as Kärcher’s online webshop and third-party suppliers, professional customers can also hire or lease machines directly from Kärcher. Through Kärcher’s vast network of officially licensed dealers, there are also an additional 16 operated Kärcher Centres and around 300 resellers worldwide.
As a world leading business known for its exceptional German technology, Kärcher’s competitive edge comes from their mantra of ‘Renew to Sustain.’
From their core products to their business practices, Kärcher embodies sustainability at every level of their operations. Using Kärcher equipment is an act of renewal in itself. Revitalising existing products and bringing new life to areas in disrepair with thorough cleaning. Internally, Kärcher’s robust sustainability plan sees the company striving to achieve zero emissions throughout its operations. Additionally, returned products are repaired and sold through outlets. Reducing waste and resource use in the consumer market.
Kärcher is also working hard to promote sustainability in communities all across the UK. Investing in environmental projects like nationwide beach cleans, which collect plastics from UK shorelines and transform them into the workstations, display cases and shelving used in Kärcher’s service centres. As well as this, Kärcher supports a school for autistic children and the non-profit Dogs for Good, where dogs are trained to help disabled people.
This dedication to sustainable innovation extends to Kärcher’s latest range of dry vacuum cleaners (T-range). Launched in summer 2025, this new product line reflects Kärcher’s commitment to sustainability and performance. Raising the benchmark in eco-conscious cleaning solutions.
The modular T 10/1 HEPA, T 15 HEPA and T11 Re!Plast vacuum cleaners boast an unmatched suction power and are designed to be as ergonomic as possible. The T 10/1 and T 15/1 are made from 45% recycled materials. While the T 11/1 Re!Plast specifically is made of 60% recycled plastic. By utilising recycled materials and lowering energy use in manufacturing, Kärcher has effectively reduced CO2 emissions in the range’s production. The inclusion of Kärcher’s eco!efficiency mode to the range’s batteries, also helps to reduce energy consumption. This has added benefits in lower noise pollution levels and extending the batteries’ lifespan. Making Kärcher’s latest line of dry vacuum cleaners more sustainable in operation, as well as in production.
Kärcher’s dedication to reducing environmental impact without compromising on quality are reflected in these sustainable, ergonomic and ultra-quiet vacuums. Supporting worldwide sustainability goals while providing businesses large and small with durable, high-performance products built for effective cleaning solutions.
This commitment to sustainability and innovation is paying off for Kärcher. The company’s most recent sustainability report for 2024 saw the international corporation using over 2,200 tonnes of recycled plastic, accounting for its use in 50% of product categories. Another significant milestone was the official confirmation by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) that the short-term emission reduction targets set by Kärcher will help to limit global warming to 1.5°C.
There have also been significant developments in Kärcher’s operational reach with the opening of a new hub in Manchester that will serve as the home for their Hire team in the UK. Kärcher’s leadership also welcomed Chris Lett as Professional Sales Director earlier this year. Lett will play a key role in driving Kärcher’s professional sales strategy going forward, as well as bringing his considerable business acumen to the company.
In the year where Kärcher marks its 90th birthday, the company has plenty to celebrate, Kärcher has outperformed their sustainability goals alongside record turnover increases this year and with new products and an expansion in operations on the horizon; 2025 is set to be a landmark year for the global cleaning manufacturer. As Kärcher looks forward, their core values of innovation, sustainability and renewal continue to guide this storied company to a brighter future and better tomorrow.
